Lakewood

Lakewood is the home to Georgian Court University, a private university founded and sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy; the University is located on a magnificent 156-acre estate formerly belonging to financier George Jay Gould and serves about 2500 students. The campus is conveniently situated 60 miles from New York and Philadelphia and only 10 miles from the beautiful Jersey Shore.

Beth Medrash Govoha is a yeshiva also located in Lakewood Township. It is commonly known as BMG, or Lakewood Yeshiva. It was founded in 1943 and the campus consists of four main buildings containing over eight study halls and numerous residence halls. As of 2012, the yeshiva has 6,500 married and undergraduate students, making it one of the largest yeshivas in the world.
